Sarah Hirschfeld, MSc, PAg
Vegetation Scientist
Sarah is a BC Professional Agrologist and Environmental Scientist who is passionate about agriculture and ecology. She completed her MSc in Plant Agriculture from the University of Guelph and her BSc in Environmental Science Honours with a specialization in Biodiversity and Conservation from the Universities of Ottawa and Birmingham.
Sarah is an Environmental Farm Plan Advisor and BC-certified Nutrient Management Planner. She is the Program Coordinator for the Kootenay & Boundary Farm Advisors (KBFA), where she provides extension services and community building for local farmers. Sarah manages the Ministry of Agriculture and Food ‘Kootenay Soil Building Network’ program. Sarah has facilitated community engagement sessions and developed feasibility studies for Food Security projects with multiple Nations across BC. In her past role as Horticultural Scientist, Sarah developed standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the research and development (R&D) program for a novel 50 000 sq ft dedicated Cannabis Research Station. As a consultant she can provide Research, Operations, Quality, and Compliance advice and services to Cannabis farmers, nurseries and processors.
Sarah co-owns and operates Golden Way Farm, which experiments with regenerative and sustainable agricultural practices in a mountain ecosystem
