Agricultural and Soil Scientist
Trish Hanuszak, PAg, is an agriculture and soil scientist based in Nelson, British Columbia,
specializing in soil assessment, nutrient management, land evaluation, and agricultural planning.
She holds a Master of Soil Science and a Bachelor of Science in Plant and Soil Science from the
University of British Columbia, and is accredited as a Professional Agrologist through the BC Institute
of Agrologists, as well as a Biologist in Training with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists.
With over five years of experience in environmental consulting and three years in project
management, Patricia leads and supports projects including soil management plans, reclamation
planning, land capability and suitability assessments, and regulatory compliance. She works with
private landowners, municipal governments, and primary industry clients to deliver defensible, data-
driven recommendations that support sustainable agriculture, environmental compliance, and
informed land use planning.
Her technical expertise includes soil classification, nutrient cycling, land capability assessment,
riparian management, and navigating provincial and federal regulatory frameworks. She is also
passionate about science communication and outreach, translating complex soil and environmental
concepts into practical, accessible information for producers, clients, and the broader community.
