Baylie Sjodin, MA, FIT

Baylie is a Forest Ecologist and Forester-in-Training (FIT) with a Master’s degree in Environmental Practice. She combines field ecology and spatial analysis to support ecosystem restoration, wildfire resilience, and land management across BC. Her technical work includes Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM), cumulative effects assessment, and the development of GIS methods to assess landscape change.

Baylie leads and coordinates restoration projects, bringing together funding, field assessments, treatment planning, implementation, and monitoring. Her experience spans forest, grassland, wetland, and riparian ecosystems, including reclamation planning and environmental monitoring. She works alongside Indigenous Nations, professionals, and other specialists to develop practical recommendations that reflect ecological and cultural priorities. She also develops and delivers university and community training in mapping, restoration, and ecological monitoring.

Outside of work, Baylie enjoys exploring BC’s backcountry through hiking, canoeing, skiing, fishing, hunting, and rock climbing, often collecting materials for her woodworking projects along the way.
