Rare Plant Inventory and Recovery
KES has been involved in the study, inventory, protection, propagation, and habitat restoration of rare plant species in the East Kootenay. KES utilizes sub-metre GPS units, which are extremely valuable technology allowing researchers to return to individual plants when monitoring. Work is ongoing, and involves developing habitat prescriptions to identify potential sites for various species.
